Mona grew up with Gloria and Mariel who looked after her as if she was their sister. When Mona was born a preemie, Tia Ivette came with Gloria, and Mariel in a carriage, to set up Mona's bed, wash her clothes, prepare everything for Mona to welcome her from Mount Sinai hospital, where she was born. They were there for Mona when she was born, throughout her life, and during the week of Shiva. Gloria and Mariel had to set up the apartment for the entire week's mourning, from organizing the apartment to sending meals, and co-ordinatinating the meals sent by others. |

Growing up, they spent week-ends picking up apples, picking strawberries, visiting aquariums, learning how to decorate cakes, and any other great adventure Tia Ivette had for them. Mona adored Mariel's baby, and could hardly wait to visit her. Mona had a gift to take care of children since she was a kid, those children loved being with her. Sulome Anderson, Mona's best friend
