Nadine Abi Kanaan, Mona's friend Beirut, Lebanon Oh Mona, my sweet, sweet Mona. Where to start? Maybe at the day we first met while we were roommates at Proctor House II. We were both in a very dark place at the time, each with her own twisted/messed up reality to deal with. It was tough for both of us that's the least I can say. Mona I'm going to address you now because in this shattered heart of mine you are still here and will be forever. I remember you greeting me in such a warm way, greeting this broken 19 year old young woman at the time. You immediately made me feel safe and at home in this cold locked unit that Proctor II is. You stood up for me Mona many times but I wont forget the two major times. 1st you argued with the nurses begging them to remove me off 5mins checks and you succeeded so thank you for that. The second time was when they wanted to "throw me" in the Quiet Room and again you objected. Mona, sweetheart, thank you will never be enough. Will never be enough to thank you for all the sweet midnight chats, the trust that progressively built between the two of us or the immense support you provided me with day in day out or even the talks the laughs our "screw the world moments" that only the two of us understood. Thank you for your trust your care your golden heart your cheekiness at times but mostly thank you for being you: an angel on earth and now the sweetest angel in the sky. Love you princess, rest easy my friend. You didnt lose the fight, no one loses after combatting an illness so fiercely. You are a life lesson and I forever will be greatful to God for making me cross your beautiful path. Thank you my angel.
