Remembering -  by Allison Bird Treacy, from a writer to a writer

Picture
Allison Bird Treacy, a very good friend, US

"Sometimes you meet someone and you know, immediately, that there is a heart connection - and this is how it felt when I first met Mona at Girls Write Now in 2007. I knew that I had met someone who I felt deeply in tune with, and that feeling was confirmed when we reconnected briefly a few years later, while attending college in the same part of Western Massachusetts. Some bit of fate knew we needed to be reunited.

Mona was a brilliant writer, but more importantly, her heart shone so brightly as to make her glow - and I can still feel her light. I carry every word we shared over the years. Everyone should be so lucky as to know someone who changes their life the way Mona changed mine, a friend who you can know deeply without words. For two writers, that might seem odd, but it was beautiful and true and I miss Mona's friendship, her gentle presence, so dearly.
